Conversations with Hearts

It’s no surprise that parents face special challenges in communicating with their kids, especially teens who have developed the ability to turn their hearing off completely.

And while I love the humor that hearts like this represent, it’s a miss for me and my family.  This weekend I plan to have special conversations with each of my boys: the 12yo who is facing challenges of growing up and navigating the rough waters and needs a healthy dose of humor; the almost 16yo who thinks constantly about what his apartment is going to look like when he moves out in a couple of years and also requires a healthy dose of humor.

Valentine’s day means a pause to recognize the special people in my life and I’m glad for it. I’ll be handing out lots of hugs and warm words on Sunday. Stop on by for yours.
