2015 Top Ten Book Reads

top tenThe second Word Nerd Award is the Top Ten Book Reads.  Below is the list of books that moved us to tears, laughter, cheers, or some other logical way, since INTJs are enthused, but in quiet ways.

Bethany:

10. Career of Evil, Robert Galbraith (more Cormoran Strike! And a lovely blend of plot and characters)
9. The Killing Kind, Chris Holm (a hitman who kills only hitmen)
8. Cannonbridge, Jonathan Barnes (spooky, tight writing)
7. The Art Forger, B.A. Shapiro (a great blend of literary mystery)
6. The Big Smoke, Adrian Matejka (see this post for understanding why)
5. The Devil’s Game, Sean Chercover (international thriller with increasing stakes)
4. The Fatal Flame, Lyndsay Faye (a top-notch ending to a trilogy)
3. Sunshine, Robin McKinley (one that sat on my shelf far too long before I discovered how good it was)
2. The Son of Laughter, Frederick Buechner (one that is amazing, every time I read it)
1. Ordinary Grace, William Kent Krueger (this was my top pusher book for the year. Everyone else who read it loved it too.)

Stacie:

10. Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt  (childhood re-read that I loved)
9. Too Good to Leave, Too Bad to Stay by Mira Kirshenbaum  (a nonfiction title that helped me solve some problems)
8. The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman  (a trip into Gaiman’s worlds should be a regular thing)
7. The Book of Jhereg by Steven Burst (a book that Bethany recommended and I can’t believe I missed it)
6. Stardust by Neil Gaiman (see above)
5. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (one that showed the layers of love)
4. Blessed are those who Mourn by Kristi Belcamino (one that had me guessing until the very end)
3. Red Sparrow by Jason Matthews (one that was outside of my typical reads)
2. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell (one that showed the beauty of people)
1. The Aeronaut’s Windlass by Jim Butcher (one that promises to have many more adventures behind it)
