Obligathered

Sometimes, typos are fortuitous.

I was trying to type the word “obligated” to Stacie and I mangled it in fine fashion, so it came out as “obligatherd.” My brain rearranged it and I instantly saw the potential in the new word, “obligatehered.”

The Word Nerd are happy to present you with the correct definition and usage examples for this handy term.

Obligather (verb) obligathered, obligathering.

1. to bind to oneself to attend or host a function because of moral/cultural expectations. Whether we had material to discuss or not, everyone  obligathered at staff meetings.

Obligathering (noun)

1. A function held because of moral/cultural expectations that no one wants to really attend. No one wanted to admit it, but the annual reunion was nothing more than an obligathering.
